Here are list of things I can think of that people tend to obsess over such as: favorite band, favorite team or professional athlete, boyfriend or girlfriend, sex, drugs or alcohol or gambling, or maybe even being religious?

Obsession is an indicator that the individual has issues that they are not dealing well with. The inability to control their thoughts and possibly their actions.

i say yes...no doubt. It makes people constantly think and many people do this....whether they are really aware of this or not is a different story.
