I had brown recluses and wolf spiders in my last apartment. I also have two cats. So I didn't want to use anything that would ham my cats. I called the local environment place with the city and they told me the safest thing to use was hedge apples. Cut them up and stick them back in the corners. Also told me the cats will help keep the spider population down.

In Oklahoma we call them hedge apples. We use them for insects and mice. I live at the lake and I just cut them in half and throw them under the house. Works great. Neighbor has slab floor, he cuts in quarters and puts them in the back of kitchen and bath cabinets. By the way, my dogs wont even get close to them, maybe they just know "Not Good". You know how they beg and stare while your eating your PBJ sandwich but never give you a second look when your smoking a cigarette. Good Luck. :)

I think you're talking about Hedge apples...When you cut them in half and the insects injest them, it kills them. I wonder, if it would be the same thing as if your pet drank insectiside. I would be sure and put them in places where the animals couldn't get them.
