Hey, teachers - are you enjoying your Christmas/New Year break? Are you looking forward to going back into the classroom at 8AM on Jan 2, or do you wish this vacation was longer?

I'm a middle school special education paraprofessional with the New York City Board of Ed.

Hey!

I am enjoying my Christmas break, and I try to look forward to going back simply because its easier than not looking forward to going back.

I too am a special education para, only in the lonely state of ND. I wish the vacation was a little longer as well. (ours is 7 week days) But I am trying to look on the positive side, and that is that the shorter the break, the bigger the paycheck, right??

Good luck with your students in the New Year!!

Good luck with your Christmas/New Year break. We got out on Dec. 19th in Nevada and go back on the 3rd of Jan. I don't wish the vacation were longer since I kind of would like it shorter because then we would get out earlier. Did I need the longer break? Maybe, but what break I do have I am enjoying including answering your question. Again, enjoy your week.

I am definitely enjoying the break. I am not looking forward to going back at this point, but hopefully when the time comes I will be feeling more ready to go back. In my school district in Texas teachers have to go back on Jan. 2nd, and students come back on Jan. 4th.

It is great to get away from the Holiday excitement for a while. I took down my room decorations before I left on the last day and will return to a clean room ready to blaze on.

This time of year the students are just goofy and not interested in studying. After the new year they come back and settle in to a routine better.

I was a teacher, and I always thought the holiday was too short...but now that I'm back in grad school and I feel like I should be making money, but being at home for a month without pay...I'm kinda wishing I were teaching again *ack*.

Hi, I teach at a year round school and have been off track since Thanksgiving. I would love to have more time off, but then again, I do miss the kids too.

I am a pre-service teacher, and I am not looking forward to going back to school. I have gotten used to sleeping late, and I am also terrified to begin my teacher internship.

Not every school district has the same holiday. We go back the third, I know people who go back the 8th.
