A screen resolution of 640 x 480 or 800 x 600 makes for large icons and a big text size. You have to change the screen resolution.

On the desktop right click and click properties. Go over to appearance and click the effects button. Uncheck the box next to "Use Large Icons"
And if your webpages have huge text you can change that (in IE) by going to View>Text Size>Medium (or smaller if you like)
Or, if you are in Firefox (which I prefer) View>Text Size>Decrease.
Hope this helps! Oh, and http://www.getfirefox.com

Minimize all open windows. Right click on an empty spot on your desktop. Click on Properties. On the Settings tab, change the screen resolution (slide it towards the right). You may need to do this a couple times until you hit the setting you want.

Right-click on your desktop
Select Properties
Under the "Desktop" (i think? ...if not, check all) tab, you can select the Resolution. You might have 640x480 or 800x600, you want whatever the most you can hold or, or if you have a LCD monitor, whatever it is supposed to be. (If you not sure, 1024 x 786 is safe.)
If you cannot increase your reoslution, you may have the wrong video drivers installed. In that case, refer back to the system disk or video card manufactorers website.
