I do not think there is a difference between how these terms are applied to the LGBT community and everyone else. This question should probably be somewhere else.

Unless of course you were hoping for an intelligent unbiased answer, in that case this is probably the best place to ask.

There's no difference; they're both fictional stereotypes. Sure, you could say 'normal' can be described objectively; it's that portion of the sample that's included within one standard deviation of the mean - 68%. Or you could get all mathematical and say that number should merely be greater than 50%. But it's still nonsense; one 'normal' guy is not the same as the next 'normal' guy. They might have the same sized family, have the same salaries and the same religion but differ in their political leanings.

As for 'real' men, that's even more ridiculous; every man is a 'real' man. (There are well-established medical tests to prove it). And I'm not just talking about sticking a hand down his pants and getting him to cough - as the transgendered know.

So, a more useful form of your question is what's the difference between men who talk about 'real' and 'normal' men and those who don't? That's easier; the first is a cowardly mediocrity who needs the protection of the pack, the other is a courageous human being who champions human rights.

Normal men is a catergory consisting of anyone wearing pants. Real men take care of their homes and families no matter what.

I like the definition the late Dr Ed Cole use to give, "real men take responsibilities for themselves and their families".
