I'm driving a 1992 Honda Accord LX (260,000 miles) oil is leaking into the combustion chamber. I just found that out today when I replaced the old spark plugs. I found three spark plugs with oil, and that's how I found out there was a leak. How helpful can a non-foul adapter be to the engine's performance and how many more miles can I expect this engine to give me? It doesn't blow black smoke and there is no knocking or pinging in the engine. All of your responses are appreciated, thanks!

Well if your getting oil fouling of the plugs, it could come from two places, the valve guides in the cylinder head, or the piston rings not sealing correctly (very worn) the engine will still run for quite some time actually, just the clouds of blue smoke you;ll be dragging through town might drawn some looks from passersby!!... as long as you are not hearing any loud knocking noises from the engine then it will keep on running. you may want to have a compression test performed to check to see what the problem is whether its rings or valve guides. you can do it yourself if you have the tools to do so.

japanese engines are famous for going long distances, you may get at least another 50-75k if you go easy on it. if you are having plug fouling try going up to a hotter heat range on the plugs and that will help burn off the deposits. with 260k miles oil burning is absolutely normal, many engines don't even make 150k with the way some people maintain them.

we can never tell until when is your engine gonna last but i suggest that you check first your cylinder head gasket. the oil might leaking down to your plugs. basically, spark plugs wont spark if its wet or has oil so your engine wont start in the first place if that's the case. my idea is more cheaper than overhauling the engine.

I once had an engine in this condition I kept changing plugs till I sold it. However not a lot of time left in the motor. Trade her in..

Blue smoke would indicate oil burning..black would indicate a fuel rich air/fuel mixture. If you alleviate the oil problem...(piston rings) it could go another 100-120,000...keep your eye on the oil level...and the moisture on the plugs may be un-burnt gas.

get insurance, drive thru a puddle deep enuf for water to be sucked into the air cleaner and let the engine seize. the ins will pay for a used motor and you pay the ded
