If it's the really cheap kind with just a round hole, all you need is a thin long screwdriver. Stick the screwdriver in slowly and feel around until you're in the slot (just like a screw head). And then just turn it (whichever way unlocks it). If that doesn't work, and there's space in the door jam, you can take a credit card (or safeway card, any card that you don't mind if it breaks) and slide it in where the plate is. If the door is really tight you might have to grab the door knob and push it in and out to work the card in there. The idea is to slide the card in all the way and then just push the door open. It should catch on the card instead of the door. It helps if you study an unlocked door before you do that so you can see how it would work. If it's a bolt or a door that requires a unique key, well... good luck with that. There are tutorials online that might be able to teach you how to pick the lock with some common household items, but I've never tried that. Good luck.

There is usually a small hole in the center of the doorknob....get a clothes hanger, bend the curve until it is straight, the insert into the hole, while it is pressed in, turn the door knob. If that doesn't work, slide a credit card in where the door latchet goes into the rescession. Just push & wiggle until the card slides in. Just pull the door and it will open.

Most bedroom doors, on the "outside" of the door, have either a small hole or a small slot. In the case of a hole, just insert something small, like a paperclip or toothpick, and push gently but firmly. In the case of a slot, insert a small blade-type screwdriver, or something of a similar shape, and turn. In both cases, you will hear a distinct "click" or "pop" when the doorknob unlocks.

Use a then piece of metal if there is a hole, a key if there is a lock and maybe a thin card. Sometimes if there is a crappy doorknob you can try to turn it as hard as you can and it opens.

Try using the dry cleaning laundry metal hanger or any hard metal wire, just stick it into the hole of the door lock and press- that should do the trick.

There is usually a little hole near the knob. Stick something in the hole to pop it open.

Use a screwdriver, or if it is just a hole, use a paper clip or something small enough to fit in the hole
