Is there something that will last forever? In heaven, earth, the "limbo stage", or the netherworld? I dream of eternity in my hands, but what is eternal?

Albert Einstein said, "Time and space are modes in which we think, and not conditions in which we live".

Time is a temporary illusion associated with this present physical plane only.
It does not exist in heaven or the afterlife.

When you enter the afterlife, you will not be able to tell the difference between 2 seconds and 87 million years because there is no difference.

Eternity is not a time-line that extends indefinitely.
Eternity is the absence of time.

After you die, you will exist forever because you are already in the forever. Time does not exist. That is eternity.

You are actually in eternity now, but are under the illusion of time. Your soul is eternal. Only your body is subject to death and decay.

Existance is eternal, even if all that we know is gone there will be nothingness which is an existance of something. There will always be existance whether we are prevy to it, participating in it or passed by it.

It seems anymore that war is eternal, atleast as long as there is man.

And when you find the right person, love will be as eternal as you will ever have conciousness of so what would it matter otherwise. For all that you know or will ever remember, everything that is now, everything that is when your mortal body dies, is eternal as far as you will ever know so perhaps you should embrace it as such... All things are eternal even in their absence. Hecho.

As far as we know, physical matter is eternal. Even when the cosmos was a small object before the big bang, it supposedly contained all the matter that exists in the cosmos today, including the particles that make up you and me.

yeah, it's true..our spirit is eternal (or that awareness that we feel, that presence that is always there where we are). our true being is software not hardware and believe it or not, space is not eternal (big discovery of 20th century). That means something is outside of the space time continuium and that must be God--the creator of it all. Just be sure you got the right one--Merry CHRISTmas!

No. Nothing is eternal, as all life and concepts of life change without surcease. To dream of eternity in your hands, you must change the concept of what you consider to be your hands to encompass ever in motion perceptions around you.

Cradling change as it occurs is a far larger task which most would never endeavor to attempt. As you wish to attempt that: Only change is eternal.

Encompassing change within your "hands" is, therefor the only thing eternal. I hope that is of help in your worldly endeavors.

Spiritually speaking our soul is eternal. It is said that on death the soul leaves the body and takes a different shape but it never dies or gets destroyed.

Nobody knows nor will they ever, because if one were to exist forever they would not know if it will never end or will end in a moment.
Now then, time is not an illusion just because it is not an object or because humans invented the term.

The vastness of space is eternal. I predict that man will never discover the end of space.

Time only exists in the mind of man. "God dwells within you as you." You have union with God in unconditional love within your heart. As the colors of the rainbow are contained within sunlight, so to all things are contained within Gods unconditional love. You are the eternal Spirit, the essence of you being is unconditional love. you hold forever in your hands.
