Well, MapQuest says 27 hours, 4 minutes of driving time. (Attached are the written directions and the map is at the bottom of the page.)
It's set to show you the shortest time. You can also select the shortest distance, to avoid tolls, and to reverse the route.
Google maps is saying 1 day and 4 hours (only about an hour difference, but it's showing you a little bit of a different route). It's also showing you the written directions and the map, and you can reverse the route.
On either site, you can revise your route with a specific to or from address, and add stops to your directions.
Also, if you book your hotels ahead of time online, you can usually get some cheaper prices. AAA and other places also can get you discounts to specific hotels. And if you fly or book a rental car along with your hotel stay, a lot of websites will give you bulk discounts for both or all three.
Good luck, we have a beautiful country to discover!

The trip takes over 27 hours going west on Interstate 20. With some rest, you can make it in two or three days. You have to put in mind that I-20 becomes I-10 in western Texas shortly before entering New Mexico.

In regard to going to New York or Maine, I would not recommend it because it is winter right now and pretty could over there. Even if you are thinking of winter vacationing, it would cost you some money because it is the season for winter vacation spots. Arizona should be warm and nice at this time of the year.

I drove from Hartford, CT to Phoenix,AZ in 4 days of heavy driving. From Georgia you should be able to do it in 3 days no problem, but 2 would be pushing it. If you like the outdoors, Arizona has a lot to offer without being too pricey. The views a breathtaking. Just remember that summer isn't the most favorable time to visit, plan on 100+ degree weather!! Your best bet would be to use route 40 right across. This road follows the alignment of the historic route 66 and has gret views along the way. It takes you through Amarillo, TX, and Albequrque, NM. Once you enter AZ, route 40 passes through the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert State Parks, on the way to the grand canyon.

three days, but if you stop to see the sights, even longer. There are many routes to get there, but if you stick to the Highways 20 to Dallas then ten to Flagstaff you should do Ok, its roughly 1850 miles or 28 hours non stop. You can see a lot of Alabama, Louisiana and Texas on the way there. There are a lot of sights to see. Another route which would take you out of your way would be to take the gulf coast roads at least to Galveston and then North to Houston and then Dallas to HWY 10 or go even further and take the gulf roads to Corpus Christi and go up to Fort Worth from there. The Gulf Coast is lovely but I am not sure how the roads are due to Katrina. To save money on hotels book your hotels ahead of time. Certain Chains like Days Inn offer that if you book with them directly they will offer lower prices than you can get on the web. Check it out, dont assume the web prices are lowest, Call and check, many places will offer a lower price. Personally I would take the southern route , go through LA to Baton Rouge Head West and take the Creole Nature Trail Road to the gulf,, then to Houston ( visit the space center) Up to Dallas and see the sights there and in Fort Worth, head West to Flagstaff and AZ and the Grand Canyon. By the way another way to go would be to Drive to South Padre Island instead of Flagstaff. Its a beautiful place and the beaches have free access. The hotels that are not right on the beach are within walking distance of the beaches. For twenty dollars a person you can take a tour bus from there into Mexico for the afternoon or evening, you have to pay for dinner there, but its very reasonable. Yes, its touristy but its the safest way to go.

It is1867 miles from Atlanta Ga. to Phoenix Az. If you drive 65 miles an hour the whole way it will take you 28.7 hours to drive . The best route to take is I-20 west to I-10 west to I-17 north right into Phoenix. I hope that helps you and be safe driving. If you have any problems ask a trucker.

You can easily drive to Tucson in about 1 hour and 40 minutes and maybe save another 10 minutes more on weekends. Speed limit is 75 MPH most of the way and unless you hit a lot of truck traffic it's usually a smooth drive.

It will take you three days at the most. Probably less. Depends on how much you have to stop. I-20 from Alanta and look up Map Quest. com.

I don't know a good route or a bad one for that matter, but the time it will take pretty much depends on the mph you're going.
