STay away from food names, you are asking for trouble when the child gets to school. Naming the child after a place is very common now but again, it could become dated. Flowers are pretty names for girls Names like Triillium, Magnolia, Orchid, Iris, Rose, etc. are very pretty. Make sure whatever name you choose works with your last name. Make sure its pronouncable and spellable for a young child.

Well, my husband and I were looking for names that maybe reminded us of Vegas since we got married there 2 years ago and it's our fav place. We thought of all kinds of crazy ones ( Newton, Vegas, Elvis...etc. ) and then I came up with Sahara. We stayed at the Sahara Hotel when we got married.......now that we know it's a girl it is one of our choices. Maybe my suggestion will help you come up with a special one of your own. My husband got me a book from the library called,

You Called Me What?: The Sun Guide to Celebrity Baby Names by John Perry (Paperback - Mar 1, 2007)
It's about celebrities and thier baby names..... maybe that will help. We decided Sahara will be the middle name and here is our other choices:
1. Charlotte (Charley for short)
2. Darla
3. Lila

I live in LA, and so I wouldn't name a kid Holly or Beverly because of the nearby cities. I also wouldn't name a kid London, Paris, Australia, Africa, Libya, Nubia, or any city that was widely known. I would still consider Madison, but I prefer many other names.

Canyon is pretty neat for a boy (ruggedish), i like River, but for a girl (not like River Phoenix), Snow, Haze, Chenelle, Cat (but spelled with a K), Kit, Gage, Hunter, Lace... i could go on and on...

Locket, Aria, Garnet, Duvetyn (a fabric), Jennet (soldier on horseback or a female donkey), and Trenton--a cool name, but a terrible city.
