Because he really does seem frazzled and just unready in games and i don't know if thats because of him, or because he is being poorly prepared before games. And honestly, i dont think he is the most accurate of passers, but he has sum of the worst throwing mechanics on occasion that ive EVER seen.

but if he is this bad, how do you explain his moments of brilliance and he has had a good number of them.... If it maybe just that he is cursed to be a seriously inconsistent QB?

Producer, those were picks, Kaeding and Merryman, you cant use those because the Giants STILL might not have taken those players... the trade is Manning for rivers.. and right now the Giants look like they bet their money on the wrong horse.

i think it is both..its not his skill under question by me, its his decision making...when he has time and throws it in to full coverage for an interception, thats where i question him...but his coaching is off as well and thank god coughlin is being fired..time for some changes to be made

As a Giants fan, I've watched every game Eli Manning has played. The problerm is we don't know where Eli Manning stands as far as good or bad because the Giants entire organization treats as if he were merely Peyton's kid brother.
No one respects the kid brother, they may like him ,they may pity him, but they don't repsect him.
When Manning comes off the field, no one is talking to him. You always see the backup QB, the head coach or the quarterbacks coach talking to the young starter on other teams. You don't see that with the Giants. You also don't see Manning conversing with his receivers talking about what they see onthe field, you only see the receivers (Burress, Shockey) pissing and moaning when they don't get the ball.
Manning needs to show some fire. He needs to take control of this offense. I think he has the physical talent, but I don't know if he has the leadership skills to be this team's quarterback. He needs to tell his whiny receivers to shut up if they ever want to see a pass thrown their way again. He needs to be more demanding of his offensive line. He needs to tell his coach that the offense is his and this is how he's gonna run it.
If he fails to take the reigns, he will occasionally shine and often disappoint. The talent is there, but the heart seems to be missing. That scares me.
Hopefully, the Giants fire Coughlin and get someone Manning can work with. Otherwise, let's just put the 300 pound Jared Lorenzen in at quarterback and move on.

I am a Giants fan. I have watched Eli progress rapidly and then go back to square 1 over and over again. He clearly has confidence issues and pouts and cries every time he misses a pass. He does have the talent though. If Coughlin could be fired and a creative mind could come in, he could be great. Unfortunately, this seems unlikely. There's always hope though.
By the way, it took Peyton a long time to get a hold of things too. If he performs the same way next year you can start to worry.

He is ABSOLUTELY this bad.
NY Giants did the following trade for Eli Manning:
Eli Manning = Phillip Rivers + Shawn Merriman + Nick Kaeding (all pro bowlers for San Diego Chargers, who are gonna win the Super Bowl this year)
Eli Manning got in the NFL just because of Peyton Manning. I love Peyton, but Eli has no talent. He is useless.

He IS that bad. He was raised to be a QB, just like his brother. That doesn't mean he has the same jeans. If it was coaching then he could overcome that simply by practicing on his own. Face it he thought he was better then he really was and the Giants believed he was, now they will pay for it.

no he is not that bad,,,there have been way too many injuries on that team, none of his receivers have been healthy for a full year, and as far as the defense is concerned,,they get steamrolled every game which adds to the problem when they need to catch up every game...As far as the comparisons to his brother go,,i think its unfair to do that,,,when you have harrison and wayne as your receivers it is alot easier to put up superb numbers.
