It takes the cartilage piercings a lot longer to heal and they can get pretty sore. After a couple of months I ended up taking mine out too.. the real problem was trying to sleep! (ouch)

I can't say that my piercing hurt anymore than a regular ear piercing, but I did have a real problem getting it to heal. I finally has to pull it out and let the hole close up. I was told at the time that I got the piercing that there is very little blood circulating in that area and that the healing would take extra time. I am going to have it done again, but a little lower on my ear and see if that helps.

Either side doesn't hurt much. Actually it probably matters on your personal tolerance to pain. I don't mind ear piercing in any part of my ear.. so mine didn't hurt. Description wise.. it's like someone is holding a pinch to your ear/cartilege

anything above the lobe (the soft part of ur ear) is cartilidge, so it probably feels the same when u get it pierced.
