Went for a ultrasound last Thurs n gyn say that the baby head is extremely down in the pelvis ord. I am now 37 weeks preg. Since yesterday I have been having menstrual like pains and soreness in my tummy and lower back but it is bearable and for the past week the Braxton hicks came like 4 to 5 times a day. Sometimes my pelvis and groin area will cramp up until down to my thigh. I do not see any bloody show yet but I do have fluid discharge like a tablespoon quantity each time. What can that be? But the discharge I have started when I was 5 mths till now. It that signs of labor or just normal ligament pain and symptoms?

I am worried because I do not know the onset of labour. As my 1st child was born at 33weeks because my water bag broke suddenly. I have read that some women do not even realise that they are in labour when they have pains which is bearable like normal late pregnancy pains but actually they are.

there are many different signs of going into labour...your water could break, and cramping is like 5mins apart lasting about 30-50seconds....but you will know when your in labour.....if you are unable to breathe or talk when you experience these timely cramps then head to the hospital...

If the discharge is clear and watery, your water might be leaking. It's possible for there to be a leak instead of a big gush. (Unlikely though, it's probably just lots of regular discharge) If you think it's leaking they can do a test easily at the hospital or even your doctors office. I probably wouldn't rush into the hospital tonight, but maybe make an appointment with your doctor tomorrow to get the discharge checked.
Put a pad on, if it's soaking the pad then take it into the hospital to show them if you need to. If you're not worried about the discharge then I would wait until you have regular contractions. It can be really hard to tell when to go in, but when it's time you will probably know. Just remember, as long as you have insurance paying your maternity bills, your doctor and the hospital is used to getting false alarms and usually the visits to get checked are fairly quick.

IMHO It sounds like totally normal late pregnancy symptoms, I don't think you're going into labor yet. But do whatever makes you comfortable :)

You're very close, but it sounds like you're experiencing normal end of pregnancy discomfort to me.

The best sign that you're in labor is that your pains progress from menstrual-like cramping to something worse. They don't go away (for long) and moving around doesn't make them stop. Over time, they also come more and more frequently and each pain lasts longer.

Try keeping a log of when your cramp-like pains happen and how long they last. Ideally, you want consistant pains that are 3-5 minutes apart and 25+ seconds long before arriving at the hospital. Be your own judge, though, because some women labor for a very long time before getting to this point. Obviously, if you think your water has broken (it doesn't sound like it, btw) call your doc and prepare to head to the hospital.

On my due date I couldn't feel the first part of labor. I had to feel my stocmach with my hand to see how tight it was. It would get really hard for a few seconds & then relax for several minutes. AFter a while we went to the hospital & they said it's the real thing. It just took a while for things to progress.

it sounds like to me that your labor may be starting thats exactly what it feels like especially that you are 37 weeks preg. just keep watching until the cramps seem like they are getting more frequent you should call your doctor though just in case good luck to you and congradulations!!!!!
