i got a slingbox for christmas which allows you to view your tivo programs over the internet (http://www.slingmedia.com). it's a cool thing, but the slingbox needs to sit near the tivo and has only an RJ45 jack to connect to the internet. my dsl modem and wireless router are a few rooms away (tivo's downstairs, router's upstairs) and I don't want to run a wire. there must be a way to go wi-fi from the wireless router upstairs to another wireless router downstairs to the slingbox. any tips on how to set something like that up?

Well I don't have either of these toys :( but if I understand your setup correctly - all you need to do is attach a Wi-Fi to Ethernet Bridge to your slingbox. Probably $60??

Addendum:
After sending the above answer I googled Slingbox Wi-Fi Ethernet Bridge and found a site you may find helpful - http://www.techlore.com/article/11504/

what u desire is a repeater. u could purchase one, even nonetheless it somewhat is greater fee-effective to get an previous router and reflash it with dd-wrt firmware. (I did purchase a prrtable one for $15. on sale -- i think of the traditional fee became approximately $30.-$40 5.) u can the configure it as a repeater. in actuality what that does is to rcv the main important router sign and rebroadcast it. I even have on connecting to a acquaintances router over 150yds away - she is completely attentive to it.

you can't go from wireless to wireless. you can use another router and configure it as an access point which will save a lot of money. AP's are a rip off for the home wireless user.

You can do this without using two routers. You simply need to find a wireless card that connects to a network cable. http://portal.knowledgebase.net/al/6625/9428/article.asp?aid=151068&c=6625&cp=9734&cpc=eu2xkjWWR8t0XNRaLVhY .

A wireless gaming device (like the Microsoft MN-740) might even work for you....ok, just did a quick google search....here you go: http://us.slingmedia.com/object/KB-005028.html .

Hope this helps!!

You will be just find with an Access Point... you do not need another router next to the tivo.
The access point will have the ethernet connection you need and become an antenna that you can configure to connect to your router upstairs.

Something like this Linksys will do the job http://www.amazon.com/Linksys-WAP54G-Wireless-G-Access-Point/dp/B00007KDVJ

Good luck
