I have a Claddagh ring but when looking up information, like how to symbolize certain things, I continue getting varying results. What are the ways to wear it and what do they symbolize?

I have heard it was supposed to bring the wearer good luck - or keep evil at bay - wear it on the normal ring finger!@~
