Pretend there are two teams from the same division that are 14-2 and 13-3 respectively, and the team with the neat best record in the conference was 12-4 and from a different division. Would the second place team from the first division (13-3) receive a first round bye or would the division winner with the next highest record (12-4) receive the bye?

The two division winners with the best record will get the bye. So in this case, assuming the third division winner has a record below 12-4, the 14-2 team and 12-4 team get the byes. 13-3 team plays in the first week.

The top 4 seeds go to the division winners. It doesn't matter if other teams have a better record.

Wouldn't those two different division teams compare who they played that they had in common games against next? Like who had the better record against common opponents(win-wise) even though they are in different divisions?
