Haven't figured that one out yet...when you do,please pass it on. I'm finding that Shut up doesn't always work for me.

Well if....
I usually whisper in a hush tone and trail off the sentence: "Could you please..." and then put my finger up to my lip, and say thank you.
Movies: I clear my throat "uhum", and then I turn and give them the raised eyebrow "the look", and then I'll Shhh them, after that if they really are too annoying.. I find another seat or get my money back to get placed at another running screen.
Funeral or Public talk or assembly: Ssshhh with "the look"

A simple finger to the lips, followed by a shhhh, sound should alert those savvy enough to quiet down.

Shuuutttt Up! Don't make me come down on your heaaaddd! Ha Ha.
How about: Oh my gosh, I can't hear myself think with your big mouth yakking.
Or: Ouch, you are so hurting my ears!
Final Answer: Even though I am enjoying listening to your totally shrill and overly loud mouth, I really need to get this work done.

There is none. I just say SHUT THE **** UP!!! But of course that's when I snap. The first few times it's shhh and then could you please be quiet. It's a gradual process. I'm not that mean♥

It depends, one of my partners at work won`t shut up, and she sings when she`s sitting next to me!!!!!!! I would really like to yell at her SHUT THE F*** UP!!!!!!!!!!!, but that´s not nice, so I told one of my other partners to tell her to shut up, and he used an excuse, telling her that he was unable to concentrate, and then she got quiet, even though it was just for a while, but it worked!!

It depends on the circumstances....
For example, if you're trying to study or do work, just say something along the lines of, "Hey, you're talking about some really cool stuff and I wish I could listen to more but I've gotta get to work"
Just basically go by flattering.....tell them you like what they're saying even if you don't and act like you're sad that you can't keep listening.

A simple "Hush Please" is a very polite way, and much better than "Shut-up!!" You know? Kindness, is always the best policy.. And you get better results, with kindness, and manners... Smile!! Oh, and a "Happy New Year to you & yours!!"

There is no effective or polite way to do that. It only works if you're a great big sob.
