How do you define what 'masculine' is? Dress, appearance, voice, manner, nature, behaviour, their friends, the club they go to, whether they 'top' or 'bottom', muscular physique, body shape, weight, length of hair, whether they wax their butt, penis size, ethnicity....?

I think that it is a question of IMAGE..

for many a decades , the gay man has been perceived by society as an effiminate person who was socially, physically and morally weak . However, we all know that this isNOT true..
So, whenever a community tries to change its image , there is always a backlash against those who enforce / display the old stereotypes.

tht is the only explainable reason..
however, this is wrong.. All gay men, effeminate or Not, are entitled to equal respect & dignity :)

basically like our fingerprints, each and every persons is rather distinctive. i think of with some adult adult males the female habit comes very needless to say as area of who they are and an identity they are comfortable with. For others it must be an act that they positioned directly to be extra known or assimilated into what they grow to know to be mainstream gay subculture. this is particularly all a count of the guy and their progression. For what this is well worth i'm basically myself and tend in the direction of the extra masculine end of the spectrum. a lot of my pals say that till I informed somebody, you will particularly by no skill know i'm gay, even however I even have by no skill even touched a woman nor have I ever had the desire to. function would not look correct to behaviour the two. I even have seen some specially female tops (besides the shown fact that uncommon). i'm a backside and intensely comfortable with that and am basically myself. particularly i think of this is extra a count of progression and convenience than something and is easily based on the guy.

Because, before our name was GAY it was PANSY. The "idea that popped into the average straight mind" when thinking of a pansy was of an effeminate male. Someone weak, morally, spiritually and physically. I think we have a "backlash" against it now. Trying to prove we're manly, womanly enough to be true to our sexes. Whatever, its truly not important what others think. I know personally that I prefer a man who acts more masculine. But, that's just a personal preference.

Some men say that they want men who are masculine because if they wanted someone feminine they'd be with a girl but I think some men are cowards and don't want to be seen messing around with an effeminate man. So, they'll mess with a masculine dude because they know no one will suspect them of being gay and they'll be safe. That's my opinion.

It's because they find effeminate mannerisms annoying and aberrant on a biological male.

the effeminate acting guys give a bad image of gay men to the world at large.

I like only quiet, low-key, reserved, &very solid, stable types of guys. Don't want to be around a screamer, a shrill-pitched voice, or any flamboyant guys who carry on loud and girlish as they cavort.

It's that simple.

Unfortunately, some members of minorities don't like other members of their communities that they think are stereotypical or make them look bad. It's really sad that it happens, but yeah.

Maybe they are trying to distance themselves from the violence,
that they perceive is attracted by the effeminate life style.
