Powdered boric acid (main ingredient in Visine) the pharmacist will agree. they take it to their nest. Sprinkle around entire baseboards and back of cupboards .
There are products that are made out of it for "bugs" its 99% active ingredients is boric acid. Its just cheaper to get it at a drug store.
Its used in hospitals and not a health concern for pets and children.
I refuse to live with have ants and roaches. takes about 2-3 weeks but you wont have to be afraid to open cupboards and kitchen drawers again

I don't feel angst...I'm just overwhelmed with all of it. For example, right now...I'm in the basement (where my computer is) and I'm looking at the old entertainment center stored down here collecting dust, and I see (among MANY other useless things) a model car of a '72 yellow Corvette still in the box...and I have absolutely no idea why I would have something like that, or how it got there. I'm not a big shopper, in fact I rarely do unless I absolutely need something, so I have no idea where this stuff comes from...but that's just a minor example of the crap that's somehow made it into my house over the years. I'm going to start small. I've told myself that come 2011...I'm going to throw one box of stuff out a week. I'm not even going to look at it, or think about it before throwing it out. If it isn't being used currently, or hasn't been looked at/touched in six months...out it goes.

I do this once a year and it never fails...
Get the Raid or similar brand fogger found in the insecticide section of any Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, etc. You place them in the middle of each room in the house (according to the size of room per can instructions) on a newspaper, set them off with all windows closed, fans off, etc. and leave the house for a few hours. If you follow the instructions in reguards to using around the kitchen area, childrens rooms, and pets, they work like a charm. It rids my basement and house of winter spiders and anything that may have crept in before the winter weather got near. It doesn't cost much and no aim and spray issues. My pets don't seem to be affected by it after it is safe to return to the rooms. You can do one room with doors closed or do the whole house and leave for awhile. Look in to it and see if this is an option for you.

Get yourself a gecko! A friend of mine had one when her bug problem was out of control. It was almost never seen & the bugs started to dissapear. You don't have to do anything. It will hunt the bugs. Just get a little shock every now & then when you find it hiding in the cabinet or under the table.

Get a cat. Keep it as an indoor cat. They will get rid of spiders, moths, flies, mice, lizards, roaches, lighting bugs, grasshoppers, pill bugs, etc. Plus you can also relieve stress by petting a cat.

Smoke your house. Open all drawers and close the windows. Let off the gas in each 300 sqft space. Come back a few hours later, open the windows and be bug free.

you make a mixture of borax~2 cups~and 1 cup of salt, and mix together in a coffee can, which youll make holes in the lid first, with a nail~like a giant salt shaker~then you will tape it around the lid very good with duck tape............then sprinkle it EVERYWHERE in all corners, etc.using a broom, sweep it all over the house really good. let it sit for 3 days...then vacuum very good with shopvac, and dispose of the filter and seal garbage bag immediately, youll need to clean the vaccum too, outside with hose.YOU WILL BE AMAZED! i even sprinkle it on windowsills, no spiders at all in windows, no bugs at all ever again........
