Tom Cruise. Take a look at all of his major parts. With the possible exception of Top Gun, he's playing the same guy in every movie ... kinda a naive, cute guy who just doesn't bring anything else to the part. Tom Hanks plays a different character in every movie, from romantic comedies (Sleepless in Seattle or You've Got Mail), to Forrest Gump, an attorney with AIDS (Philadelphia) and a soldier in Saving Private Ryan. Each part is distinctly different from his last or any other part played by him, for that matter, in the past.
