Things we've seen
Yard sales, to get stuff, get every senior to donate stuff from their houses, get their parents to donate, and ask all the neighbors if they have donations that they were going to give to salvation army or something. You could print flyers two weeks before, go door to door to drop off, and then pick it up a week before the yard sale (you might add two weeks on to that if it'll take you a while to sort through) We did that to raise money for our prison ministry for children. We made easily $800
Resale items from a wholesale club (like SAMs or CostCo)
Auctioning weekend helpers (parents can 'bid' on a weekend help who could help clean garages, mow lawns, babysit, you could just do a silent auction for specific services so you could limit how much time and work went into it)
car washes
Pizza hut, Subway, Mazzio's, and CiCi's pizza are really great places to have a fundraiser, like 10% of purchases on a specific night go straight to the school. Just call and ask to a fundraiser coordinator.
Ask neighborhood businesses to donate items for a sale, esp those you frequent for lunch or after schools. Of course, that depends on how friendly YOU guys are at those times ;-) Those items could be auctioned or sold at a yard sale.

Talent Show - Little if any financial input. Except for money for the prizes (unless yu can get prizes donated by local businesses) all is profit.
Some fast food restaurants will allow a group to work as volunteers for a day (or shift) and get a percentage of the intake for their group.
After school, Saturday, or Sunday afternoon kids' day. Something like a carnival. Would be most advantageous if you could do it after school at a local elementary or middle school.
Beauty contest for Miss Senior Class. Could have fun with this and have a joke contest with guys as contestants. Students at the school could vote for a contestant by putting coins (or money) in the contestant's jar.
If basketball games are well attended, have lotteries during half times. Buy a ticket for $1 and get half the take up to $50.
A dance can bring in some quick cash. Use CDs for music and don't worry about decorations. For added funds, sell refreshments.
The possibilities are endless. Good luck.

Around here, car washes are real big. I don't know how they convince a gas station or convenience store to waste their water, but the kids splash a little water and soap on your car and charge you a couple of bucks.
Check online, or with local franchises. There are places that sell crappy pizza, lousy candy and other foods as fundraisers. All this food is mass-produced with low-quality ingredients, so you needn't worry about the home made stuff.
Some franchises like Blimpy's or Subway say they support fundraisers.

How about a dance? A walkathon? A school store?
My school made 6000 from a walkathon at the elementary level. I think that a dance may work better for high school though.

How about putting together a cleaning crew and going door to door and mow yards and clean garages and rake and do other assorted chores; get a group together and hold a car wash or a dog wash; dog walking service;

If you can't sell homemade stuff or sweets, go online and find something that high school students love and get them wholesale for cheap and then sell it pricyer.
