We have a 25 yr age dif (he is in his 60s and I am late 30s)... have been together for 18 yrs. Not all of it happy. Hardly any family around, 1 child between us and almost NO "couple" friends. I go out with my girlfriends and have a social life. He has no interest. Holidays generally suck as there is no one around to spend them with besides each other. Oh well! Wondering if there are groups out there in WI for age difference marriage - social type groups. THANX!

although my wife and i are only a year and a half apart in age our friends and neighbors have a 29 year age difference. we had another couple that we were friends with that had a 15 year age difference that eventually divorced. my observations are that the kind of struggles you describe are not really about the age differences but just the common things that couples encounter but when you have this large age difference it is easy to think that is the reason and so therefore they cannot be solved, but the truth is you will need to open up the communication on this issue and be ready to compromise and also use creative solutions to help strengthen your marriage! but i want to also point out some of your "blessings"

1 you have girlfriends to socialize with

2 he lets you go out and party

3you aren't being abused or ignored

does your husband have a hobby you can get involved in?
does he have his own friends?

I am guessing that he was about twice your age when you married. 25 years is a big difference. My daughter and her husband are 18 years apart and have lots of friends that are her age, his age and in between. I am 61 and your husband is too young still to not want to be socially active. Have you tried having a get together at your house with your friends that are "couples" and invite maybe some of his work associates or any friends he may have? Maybe you could join a health club together or take dance lessons or anything else where you would meet people of different ages. If all else fails, you may need to get some marriage counseling and find out if this is a marriage worth saving. Good luck to you and your husband solving this problem.

As far as some of the other answers to this question, you should be ashamed of yourselves. This is a serious question that deserved serious answers. Grow up or get off this site.

What? You get called 'She'? Lucky you! I'm more likely to be called 'The', as in 'The Wife'. Reminds me of a guy I dated many years ago. I hated his name, but I liked him a lot. But when he started introducing me to his friends, he'd say something like, "You know What's Her Name here, don't you?" Finally, I asked him if he had trouble remembering my name, and he told me that he just didn't like it. When I got through, there was no chance that I'd ever see or hear from him again. Lucky me.

I didn't have that problem. My husband was 49, and i'll be 25 next month. We had a 25 year different between us, and have one child together. We had several "couple" friends. Some his age, some my age, and several in between. It takes a desire on both parts to want to be social.

And FlaChick - your comment was downright ignorant and rude, and you owe this woman an apology.

My husband is 20 yrs older than me and we don't go out at all---that's not a problem---we are both a little hermit like.

Anyway, what social interaction we did have would be uncomfortable---good luck.

MY GUY IS 23 YRS YOUNGER THAN ME, BEEN TOGETHER FOR ALMOST 2 1/2 YEARS. WE DON'T DO ANYTHING WITH OTHERS, WE LIKE BEING TO OURSELFS. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT AGE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT, IT IS A PERSONAL PREFERENCE. BLOW OFF FLACHIC.. IGNORENCE IS SO SAD!

That sucks...

Try www.meetup.com. It's a website where you can find groups of your interests in your area.
