Actually, I spent a month looking around for an iPod Nano first generation...and I found the best price from www.apple.com/
The only thing is they only sell it through their REFURBISHED iPod section of the Apple Store...so all you need to do is go here:

http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=32DAAC51&nclm=Certified

and you can find your iPod first generation REFURBISHED! (which means its been put back to pretty much brand new condition with a completly new one year warranty).

I asked for a Refurbished 4GB first generation iPod Nano this Christmas and so far i've been loving it! when I opened it out of the refurbished box I thought it was brand new! I also bought a shuffle last winter that was refurbished from Apple and it still works great!
You might also want to get the white one because it will show less scratches...
also go here and get some tubes to protect your ipod:
http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MA241G-Tubes-Generation-5-pack/dp/B000B9PXNE/sr=8-1/qid=1167287394/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/102-5885358-2461722?ie=UTF8&s=electronics
(order them by December 31 and you get a 15 dollar rebate...which means they will end up being free)
I just got my set from amazon today in the mail and I love it!

*and if you have any harddrive problem with your iPod they will replace it with a new one as long as you are under the one year warranty.

So i hope i've given you plenty of money saving ideas! good luck!

*dont do eBay.com (they'll rip you off)

OH and did I mention that Apple.com offers FREE shipping that takes only a few days?

*and the first generation is still a good iPod....the second generation is more expensive...and the first generation only came out like this past year.
