I think Gaara, Naruto, Sasuke and Sarutobi has the saddest childhood of all.
Gaara - nobody dares to play with him when he was still a kid, even his own father wants to murder him. He was always alone and lonely
Naruto - an ophan when he was born (the 4th could be his dad but there is still no evidence proving it) he was treated like a monster by the villagers and the girl he loves always dissed him and he lose his best friend to an evil villain
Sasuke - his own brother killed his parents and clan (infront of his own eyes) and all he can do is watch how his parents got murdered, he got to endure the pain and loneliness when he was just 4 or 5 years old. He got to go for an evil guy just to seek greater power.
Sarutobi - He was betrayed by his prized student, he was pushed to the limit and murdered by his own favourite student. He didnt have the heart to kill his favourite student but to endure the pain of his favourite student defecting the village and leaving him at the end.

GAARA!!!! I agree all three of them have very sad pasts but among the three, I cried the most when it comes to Gaara. He had never been loved since the time he was borned. If you've seen Naruto OVA Special Movie it shows that Gaara was at first tried to be nice to others and wanna befriends with other kids but they ostracized him and scared of him. Even his own family hate him. Then he thought his uncle and dead-mother are the only person that loved him, but it turns out they not. His uncle even tried to kill him. Since then, he started to become cruel.
Well, at least Sasuke able to have some happy times with his clan when he's a kid. As for Naruto, his past is just not sad enough as the other two.

Sarutobi got cheated and betrayed by his gay lover Orochimaru. Oro seeks for younger and better looking Kabuto rather than staying with old and almost decaying Sarutobi :p just joking
ok, I think Gaara is the most saddest person in naruto because he didnt get any love since he was born and everyone treated him like somekind of monster and even his own dad wanted him die! He didnt get any love when he grew up either not like Naruto, he was acknowledged by sasuke, sakura, kakashi and iruka but Gaara was acknowledged by No one!

Gaara because ever since he was born he was hated. It wasn't his fault though, didn't Gaara's dad seal the demon in him? He had no friends to play with because all the kids hated/feared him. He was always alone but he... I think... trusted and loved his uncle, Yashamaru, but then his uncle ended up trying to kill him under the Kazekage's order. Gaara ended up killing his uncle without knowing it but then found out it was Yashamaru later on running to him saying sorry. Then after that Yashamaru ended up telling him that he never loved him because Gaara killed his sister (Gaara's mom). Then right before Yashamaru died he opened his vest thing, revealing explosive notes, then say to Gaara "Please die." Then he concluded from his uncle that his mother cursed him for his birth, putting her into so much pain since they used her as the sacrifice for the demon. Then for the next six years he was targeted for constant assassination attempts ordered by his fater. So... all and all it seems as if no one ever like/love him (even his brother and sister feared him). That's sad isn't it...

It depends on people's thoughts. I heard that Naruto's father is the Fourth Leader in the village that Naruto lives now (who is also the leader of the dark secret group that Sasuke's brother in). Gaara's father was the leader of the Sand Village (his siblings are his teammates in battle, well you know them anyway). Sasuke and Sakura are together later (much later).

out of those...Gaara. It's one thing to have a family and lose it but it's a whole other thing when everyone hates you. Naruto had Iruka and that's something. He turned out ok...Gaara turned out a crazy dude so you know his was bad.

It's hard. The 3 had it rough, but Gaara had the roughest. To think his evil spirit killed his mother- I think. He grew up with no love, no family, his dad hated him. That's rough. He was like " Fu** it, ima kill everyone to fill this pain." He also said that killing is happiness. He's #1.
