So my parents every year decide they are going to do a cetain thing for us four kids during Christmas. Since it is my step-dad and mom, my brother and I usually give gifts to each toher and my mom and step-dad, we dont usually buy for our step-brother/sister and vise versa. So my step-siblings this year decided to tell my parents they were only going to do for their onw children and noone else, no problem, i never expect anything from them, but dang my brother and I still bought for our parenst as they are our parents and our parets have been wonderful to us over the years.

the question I have is actually why my ste-siblings who have acually been more well tajen care of than my borther and I feel they can shirk their responsibilty as children to even get our parents a freaking card? I mean there was nothing, alos they ungraciously accept our parents gifts as if they were expecting more?

How can they have the nerve to act so superior to the rest of us?
how can they be so arrogant

I guess I should also add that why....

me the only single one who takes care of themselves and rarely asks for anythig gets shunned and mocked during the holidays for not having a "family" of my own?

As with most people anymore, they are selfish and self-centered, and think the world should be revolving around them......

1- dont bother trying to understand why your step siblings are selfish- its a waste of you brain energy. you cant control it so dont worry about it.

2 If you feel bad for your mom-step dad, tell them you feel bad

3. Remember that the only one that can make you feel bad is YOU! Why would you let persons that seem to have less character than you make you feel bad? I do know that sometimes when somebody criticizes me for something totally ridiculous, it is easy for me to laugh it off and forget about it. If however, it its a little closer to my heart and has a hint of truth, it is very difficult for me to let it go. I have learned over the years to not "play the victim" and take steps to rectify the situation.

I was single and dateless for Christmas until I was maybe 29 or 30. But I'm also one in my generation that is still married when over half my cousins/ siblings/ friends are divorced. I only brought one girl home to meet the family at Christmas back in 1988 and this New Years Eve will be our 15th anniversary.

So, from the limited amount of information sitting here before me- you are doing the right thing and should not worry about what selfish people think or say. Keep up the good work and focus on the positive things in life.
