If I have the fan on anything but low, there is a very obnoxious chirping noise coming from the passenger side of my dash. It is worse when my car is cold, but even when the car has been running awhile, the fan still chirps to some degree. I have a 2000 Honda CRV. I'm afraid it's the blower moter. A very expensive dealer-only part with heavy labor fees.

It sounds like a fan bearing. You may be able to replace just the bearing, or for your year car there are a lot of salvage yards that would have the motor. Try cherryauto for good clean parts and quick delivery I have used them several times with complete satisfaction. This should not be a job with heavy labor charges 3-4 small bolts and it is in your hand.

I think that you're exactly right about this from what you have described. But if I where you I would get a second opinion about the "dealer-only" part.

You are right, that's the problem! Motorcity is american-made engines(why he freaked). Get the fan ordered and changed before it stops working and your car goes cold and won't defrost the windshield.

There is either something stuck in the fan, or indeed, it IS the fan motor. Sorry.
