I don't like yams, but the there is another issue here. I have actually had a good fruitcake before, and am now convinced that the whole prejudice against them is more a case of rampant poor quality than intinsic badness. I suppose the same may true of yams, so I will give them a chance, if presented with an opportunity to try some that have some measure of quality, as opposed to beign canned or what not.
Case in point: Harry and David seels fruit cakes and fruit cake confections that are sold in their stores from the freezer? Why? Bcause at room temperature they only last about a week! Most fruitcake that is sold in stores seems ot have a shelf life of decades, due to poor quality and an overabundance of preservatives. The first time I tried the stuff at Harry and David, I was stunned. I like the confection, which is flourless glaze of cherries, pineapple,. and nuts. Quite good, and about as different from most fruitcakes as a tofu burger is from a filet mignon!

actually, yams are supposed to be awesome for your health. I don't know if fruitcake is...I'll say fruitcake is grosser.

fruitcake is good for a couple of things..
makes a great door stop
can be substituted for a cement block
