My granny lives in a very rich upper class appartment in the city and everytime i go there I get stared at to death. I know it's not common to see "tan hispanic looking" living b/c usually it's only whites and asians. Damn i feel like their stereotyping me or something..like it's impossible for a "tan hispanic looking" person to live in a yuppy neighborhood..gosh some people are so close minded. I think what their doing is rude, should i give them an evil eye?

Sounds more like you have a complex about your looks. If not then you must be so hot people can't help but stare. Or maybe they aren't staring and it's only your imagination.

Just because other people are rude doesn't mean you should also be rude. Take the high rode.

As an alternate, why don't you scare them away by accenting your hispanic looking tan and staring at them?

It sux that you have to deal with that. Maybe next time they stare you can ask them if you have a booger in your nose or something similar.

No, do not! I can pretty much guarantee that, if they are staring at you because of your appearance, giving them the "evil eye" will just give them MORE reason to distrust, or dislike, you! You will NEVER be in a place free from prejudice, never be able to avoid it. The best things to do are ignore it, learn to live with it, and show by your example that (a) it doesn't bother you, and (b) you're not a "dumb Mexican," or whatever they may be thinking of you. In fact, if you set a good example in your conduct, you will give those few people a better impression of Hispanics then they obviously have.

No, run your own popularity contest! Smile at 'em and say Hi. If you can't stop them any other way, ask them where all the chicanos are in their neighborhood(jokingly). Have fun at them(instead of poking fun). Let them feel that you are the best person they are missing out on. This works with human nature, they'll all want to know you.

Be the better person.

Your positive attitude can change their negative ones. Show them that Hispanics are just as good as anyone else.
