That those boys felt that they had little choice in the direction that their life was to take. That they felt no hope or chance of changing their life from what their parents had to anything else. That they let their lives take such a sad turn out of no hope of anything different, and had they had hope of change they probably would have succeeded, because they had the courage and morals to do what was right by going into the church to save the children, instead of doing what was safe and staying outside and letting those children die.

i thought that when johnny dies its sad ( i think its johnny..) his body just sinks in the hospital bed, but the funniest part of the outsiders is when dally dies-(i love dally so dont get me wrong) but he gets shot, gets shot again, and then he stumbles and runs away/falls for the next 5 minutes

When Johnny dies, and tells Pony Boy to "stay gold"

Nature's first green is gold
her hardest hue to hold
her early leaf's a flower
but only so an hour
so dawn goes down to day
nothing gold can stay.

Stay gold...........
