I've been friends with my boyfriend for 10 years. We dated about 5 years ago and had a long distance relationship. We ended our romantic long distance relationship, but remained friends. We recently saw each other and are dating again. He lives in Mexico. I'm not sure how long this will last.

Race divides only exist in your mind. If you don't accept any stigma from society and can look past anything racial then there is no need to focus on the negative.

If you really care for a person you will see this person for who he is not the color of his skin. Love is blind to things like that. The people who criticize inter racial relationships are small minded and ignorant, and there opinions don't matter they will never feel the way you do for that man. You should do what ever makes you happy. But is this a question about inter racial relationships or long distance relationships? If it is about long distance relationships it can work if you both want it to. Good luck.

Your question should be...can a long distance relationship last. It has nothing to do with his skin color. People are more lenient now than they were years ago and it will get better in the future. Long distance relationships are another story. They are tough. You can never be sure what the other one is doing.

Sounds like your problem is geographical distance, and not race. For a real romantic relationship to develop, you need to spend time together. Only some of the particulars of a relationship can be worked out by correspondence or telephone, the rest must be done face to face.

I would be more concerned about the fact that you have a long distance relationship and less of the fact that it is inter racial. However, yes many inter racial relationships last and exist. All relationships take commitment from both parties involved. Have a blessed Christmas and a joyous New Year! God bless****

I can't tell you if yours or any other inter racial relationship can last, but i think theyr'e beautiful! I think God wanted us to marry other races. The kids are the most beautiful product of inter racial relationships. The mixing of all cultures, races, and colors was meant to happen and should occur more often.

If you are not sure, then try to put your gut feeling into words, even if only to yourself.

Distance ?
Cultural expectations ?
Where will you live ?
Kids & many Kid - related issues ?

Alot to think about. If you have dated for years, it sounds like race really is a peripheral issue at most. The rest of the usual stuff may be the issues you are weighing.

Good Luck!

does race really matter to you? I'd think that the distance would be more of a factor then anything. If you're honestly worried about race then maybe you should re-exam your relationship. So he lives in Mexico, if you can get together and make it work to where one of you can be around each other to make a home and a life then it should be worth it.

see inter racial relationships can last as long as you DO NOT let anyone or anything get in your way. dont listen to people talking. let them talk. love is blind. there is no rule saying love can only be in the same race. thats just naive. but the thing that worries me is him being in mexico. that is something that needs work. your going to have to trust eachother and hope youll stay together through the rough patches.. much luck to you.. hope things work out for the better what ever that may be.

Yes, they can last a very long time.
Take my family for example. My mum was born and raised in Japan and my dad is a white American guy. They've been married for sixteen years but have been together longer than that. So, yes, interracial marriages can last.
