Okay, this guy never really dances at school dances, he will but not until the dance is about half way over. I ask him and he still stands there and says no, his friends encourage him to though. I really want him to dance with me, I know that he likes me, i overheard him telling someone, I guess he is just emabarrissed, any ideas on how to get him to dance, our semi-formal is soon and I really want him to dance with me

Take him on a dancing date before the formal.

You could be bold and just start dancing with him, or when he does dance finally, then just steel him from whoever he's dancing with(but make sure it's not his girlfriend first)
