OPENED PRESENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2006-12-25 13:27:36 · answer #1 · answered by quizysk8erchick 2 · 0 0

On Christmas Eve my family always has a tradition of eating fried oysters and oyster stew for dinner.. Sounds gross, but its really good! This year on christmas eve we opened our presents, becuase it was the only time that the 4 of us would all be together for a long enough time. Then on Christmas morning we had a big brunch and me and my mom baked cookies. After that our cousins and some other family came over and we ate dinner. Later on in the evening we got hot chocolate and rode through the park to see the christmas lights!

In our extended family, Christmas Eve is for the adults. We have a dinner at one of our homes, and attend church either before or after the dinner - depending on our work or church schedules. Families with young children attend church on Christmas Eve and the children go to bed early. Christmas Day is for children and families. On Christmas morning, the children come down from their bedrooms to find their presents under the tree; parents and other relatives (grandparents/aunts & uncles may or not be present). Later in the day, families with children celebrate with cousins, aunts and uncles.
Actually, our extended family has "Christmas at Grammi's" on
the Saturday AFTER Christmas. On this afterning/evening all the children and grandchildren assemble at the grandparents' home for a real holiday celebration. All families have gifts for all the grandchildren (cousins). The meal is a buffet: it begins with appetizers, continues with potluck main dishes, and concludes with all kinds of sweets/desserts. Besides the entertainment of getting all the cousins together, the goal is always to have games for all ages; however, sometimes families with infants and babies needs to leave early.

On Christmas Eve, my whole family gathers together, lights all the candles in the house, we gather around my dad as he reads Luke chapter 2 and we act it out with our nativity. Then we hang our stockings, then my dad reads The Night before Christmas. Then we go to bed.

On Christmas morning, I wait at the top of the stairs with my siblings until we're allowed downstairs then we put on Christmas music, make turnovers and open our presents one by one.

Merry Christmas!!

Nothing much. Went for a walk. Read a book. Surfed the net. I'm not a Christian, so I don't celebrate Christmas in any way, shape or form.

I'm a Baha'i and have religious festivals at other times. Our gift giving festival is in February, and is called Ayyam-i-Ha.
