This past year has been HELL! If only there was enough time and space to fill everybody in I would, but seeing how it's the holidays, I'll keep my **** to myself! But believe me it was the worst of the worst. From crazy exes, to losing a job then getting a new job and losing that one due to a work injury and so on and so forth. There's more but I'll spare the gory details! Here's to 2007 being better!
Universe help me, it had better be!!
Ciao!

The day that sticks out in my mind was Christmas day 2005. I had just spent three nights in a trashy Ramada in Seattle. My two kids were with me. I woke up at 2:30am and we were in the hotel lobby by 3am to catch the hotel shuttle to the airport. Then the hotel fire alarm went off. Two punks threw a smoke bomb onto a balcony and caused the alarm to go off. I happened to see them. The shuttle driver was going to detain me for when the cops arrived and I told him if he did I'd tell them I didn't see anything. I had to get to the airport. Then we got blocked in by fire trucks. We finally got to the airport but with less time to spare than I was comfortable with. We checked in and the nice woman at the counter explained that in Houston (where we were first headed) my arrival and departure gates were very far apart and I had less than 10 minutes to make a the connection. So, she said she'd call ahead and have a ride waiting for us. We arrive in Houston with no time at all to spare. There is a cart waiting. I go up to it and tell the woman,"You're waiting for us." She says, "No I'm not. These carts are for the elderly and handicap." I explain that the lady in Seattle was supposed to have called, blah, blah blah and this woman still will not give me a ride. I have a 2 yr. old and a 5 yr. old and now I have to run across the airport. I go up to another employee and have him confirm my gate number. He assures me it is a quick 3 minute walk. Liar!! It was not a 3 minute walk. We had to catch like two trains. At one point I had to start running and my 2 yr. old was crying because I was trying to carry him too. Another woman in a cart did stop and give us a ride but for a very short distance because she was going another way. We FINALLY arrive at our gate only to be told they changed gates and our gate is in a different part of the airport. I beg an old man to give us a ride and he does. When he drops us off we have a bit of ways to go still and we have to run. I hear them announcing last call for our flight. So, me and the kids are running and I realize my backpack had come unzipped and my stuff was falling out behind me. I had to go back and pick things up. We did make it to the gate. I told the lady, "sorry but we just made it from our other flight and then they told us the wrong gate." She says in a very snotty way, "Way to cut it short." Ugh!
So, then we arrive a little behind schedule to SC. My family is supposed to pick me up. They are nowhere to be seen. Me and the kids collect our luggage and then find seats and wait and wait. I've never been here before and I'm not sure where to go or where there is a phone. My family FINALLY shows up. I was a bit irriated though. We hadn't seen each other in five years. Then they show me how they feel about me by not being at the airport on time. We get to the house and my mom and dad are treating me like crap. The night ended with the entire family having a great time in the living room playing video games and me in the back bedroom crying my eyes out.
No day can compare to that one when it comes to days from hell. But going through all of that made this Christmas so much more special. We didn't travel. And my husband isn't in Kuwait as he was last year. I'm so grateful and I will never travel at Christmas again and I doubt I'll go to visit family ever.
