When songs have been deleted from the computer, iTunes can longer play or import them to your iPod. Once deleted, iTunes won't play the song because it can't find the song file.

It's fine if you manually add your songs, but if you somehow lose the songs from your iPod, which happens to a lot of people, you no longer have the songs available to put them back on your iPod.

You can purchase an external hard drive to hold what you do not have space for.

No, iTunes looks to the file to play the song and load it onto your iPod. Without the file, the song will still appear in iTunes, but when you try to play it, it'll ask you to relocate the file.

Merry Christmas! :)
