I would go with the ipod. It is so easy to use. I've had a few mp3 players and I prefer the ipod. I know quite a bit about computers but still sometimes had trouble with different formats and things with the MP3's. If you get an ipod, it's extremely easy to download music from itunes, put your cd's into itunes, and buy new stuff and it's very easy to get it onto your ipod.

You should get an mp3 player because if you get an Ipod then the only legel way to get song is to pay 99 cents a song and if you like a lot of songs then that could get expensive. If you get an mp3 player that is compatible with Napster To Go then you can download as many songs as you want onto your mp3 player for only $10 a month.

well it matters how much patience you have,
the Mp3 is easy to get music onto because of the drag and drop processing.
the ipod on other hand can be a hassle because you will need the itunes 7.0.2 if you already dont have that.
but the mp3 is a disc installment.
but i warn you that some mp3's can rip you off (at times)
for example, the creative zen v (what i own) will freeze up on you at times.
though the ipod has a somewhat hassling part, it still has pros like games and things like that.
its your option... this is my thoughts of music players.

I just got an ipod nano. Those mp3 are like maybe 79.99-149.99. OK screen hold less songs probably 1 gb. Ipods on the other hand have all different kinds and space for songs. ipod shuffle 69.99- 89.99. 512mb or 1 gb. nano 2-8 gb 149.99 for 2gb, 199.99 for 4gb (what i got) and 8gb 250.00. Video and ipod 250.00. HOlds videos pics songs etc. But you dont need that if you dont need vids. IF i wer you and dont have enough money probably the shuffle or those 60 - 100 dollar mp3 sausas are good. But otherwise i love the nanos 2nd gen.

I have a Sansa Sandisk MP3 player, it was a LOT cheaper than the iPods and iRivers (I looked).
It hasn't given me any problems, doesn't have problems with music or copyright protection either. Handles the major formats.
