Because they're used to being comfortable and having things their way. Besides, how many times has someone been embarrassed when speaking of someone to turn around and that person be there? The above person made a good point, they don't look for us if we don't "stick out." So they feel comfortable enough to speak about us for good or bad.

Probably because it's the most common orientation, I don't believe most people mean it to be hurtful. I think maybe it's similar to when people say 'he' even if it's a general statement that could be said about a man or a woman.

Personally, I do not assume anything about anyone. And I don't really care what someone sexual preference is unless I plan on having a relationship with them it is none of my business. Have a blessed Christmas and a joyous New Year! God bless****

Because the majority of the world is strait. I think that they are trying to be respectful, but I just laugh at them and say,"Honey, I'm gay!" and walk away! You should try it! It is so much fun!!!

It's called heterocentrism and it's because the majority of people are Hetero. It's a "safe" assumption (even though it IS wrong).

Is "everybody" that you talk about 'straight" or gay? I am not "everybody", so, therefore, i do not think that way.

Because we see so many people who are gay and they talk the way they do so people who talk the opposite way should be straight..
