Yeah, I lived in Columbus that's about a nil.5 an hour west on 10. i concept it replaced into basically fantastic for a huge city, besides the indisputable fact that the human beings utilizing round are finished maniacs. i will not sleep north to any extent further, Chicago is larger than Houston.

I've only had a lay over in the Houston Airport, but I have a friend that grew up there and Houston has the same to offer as any large Metropolitian city, I do suggest Tex-Mex food, it is one of the most delicious things you can get in Texas.

I lived near Houston growing up. It's HUGE. I like history, so here are my pics:

Johnson Space Center: http://www.nasa.gov/centers/johnson/home/index.html

San Jacinto Monument/Museum (San Jac is where Texas gained independence from Mexico), http://www.sanjacinto-museum.org

San Jacinto Battleground & the USS Texas

Back in college we would hit the Galleria Mall and then cruise Westheimer & Montrose looking at the - um - alternative lifestyle people.

I live there. You could go to Westheimer, there's a lot of clubs and bars and restaurants there near beltway 8. If you want to shop for cheap imported stuff you can go to Harwin Dr off the same Beltway 8. Galleria mall is really big and a good tourist attraction with a ice skating rink in it and expensive stores. Old Town Spring has good locally made gifts and things for your house. It really all depends on what you're looking for.

I live in Houston. Being a native Houstonian, I don't do that much. I might go to the mall, but that's it. However, the zoo and the Museum District are good places to visit.

I lived there for several years. Go to Galveston if it's warm. It's a major hassel to go anywhere in Houston.

Keep your car doors locked!

Good Luck

I have just been in the airport en route to somewhere else.

However, their candy store has the BEST gummi bears in the world.

No joke.

Buy some and even if you have the crappiest time, you will have the sweetest taste in your mouth.

Have fun (by the way)

I been living here all my life! :) For shopping, definitely the Galleria, but it will probably be crowded. There are lots of clubs and restaurants downtown, but parking is a beyotch sometimes, and I'm not sure what all will be open. Go here http://houston.citysearch.com/ and you can find some more info.
