I have dreamed for years I am in the middle of the ocean , doggy-paddling with no land in sight. I feel like I am drowning, and I panic and take gulps of water. It is a very realistic dream. I dream of water enveloping me at times. I believe I feel over-whelmed in my real life with family, job and responsibilities, which increases these dreams. Since these dreams are frighteningly real, I am learning to manipulate them, and fly out of the water. I have used my dreams to work through personal conflicts all my life.

A reoccuring dream usually has an important message, so I would guess a reoccuring nightmare may be an important warning.

You may have a spirit of fear, 2 tim 1:7, heb. 2:14-15. If you don't get delivered from it, you can stop them by covering yourself by saying these scriptures outloud before you go to bed at night. Try Levitus 26:6 and Psalms 91: 11.

In my opinion, a reocurring nightmare has to mean something; as most unimportant dreams are forgotten. It may be a premonition or warning from a higher power.

usually it means something is on your mind, and since your not dealing with it consciously your subconscious mind is trying to bring it to your notice through one of the only ways it can... you should try and reduce the stress in your life, high stress levels equals more nightmares...
