I use a product called Murphy Oil Soap. It is safe for natural hard wood floors and can be used for just about anything else too such as: cabinets, tables, chairs, paneling, laminate floors, no wax floors, ceramic tile, painted surfaces, laundry stains, cars, and vinyl. It is a must have in my house! It always leaves everything so clean and no residue.Smells great too. Its very inexpensive 3-4 bucks. NOT SLIPPERY. for the price its worth a shot. But I'm positive you will love it.

First use very very little water on any wood flooring. To remove the polish, take a mixture of vinegar and water and mist on the floor. Use a microfiber pad to clean the floor, might have to put some elbow grease behind it. Pledge makes a good wood cleaner that is not a polish, that works well on wood floors. Clean the floor the same way I described for taking the polish off.

you can clean the floor with Murphy's Oil Soap. it is made to clean wood. DO NOT SOAK THE FLOOR!! wet the mop, wring it damp dry, then wipe a section of the floor. keep doing this until you get the whole floor done. if you get it too wet the floor could buckle. so have some old towels to wipe up any standing water. good luck and have a safe new year!

Hot water and a towel? Perhaps just a regular mop with hot, sudsy water. Nothing big named, just hot water and soap to clean off the greasiness.
Seriously sook - what kind of answer is that? Idiot.
The process may need to be repeated to get ALL of the grease off the wood.
good luck.

I use a steam cleaner for floors. I have also used some Dove dishwashing liquid with warm water. Dove is mild and was recommended by floor installer.

Try cleaning your floor with paint thinner. On your hands and knees pour the thinner on a towel and rub the towel all over the floor. Make sure there are no pilots or open flames around. You may have to do this more than once. You also need to make sure the towel is soaked with the thinner when you start. once finished hang the towel outdoors to dry. Once dry the towel can be washed and used again.

You could try using some glass cleaner, or other ammonia base cleaning product. It should remove the wax from the furniture polish.
