It helps if you don't think of it as a one-or-the-other situation. Think more in terms of a "sexuality spectrum" with 100% homosexual on one end and 100% heterosexual on the other. Then realize that everyone falls on a different part of that spectrum with an infinite variety of possibilities. Everyone is more attracted to one gender or the other if only by a matter of degrees. I don't think any person is 100% gay, straight or bi.
Also, the position where a person believes s/he is on that line can change during their lifetime. Notice I say "believes", because we may not always be honest with ourselves about what we want and outside influences can effect our decisions at any given time.

While an interesting perspective, and put clearly -- I must disagree with you. Numbers of studies have established pretty clearly that there are straight, gay and bisexual orientations (some would argue against the last, but I've read the methodologies of their studies, and am not yet impressed).
In any event, I do think that there are closeted gays and that there are FAR more bisexuals than ever admit it to themselves, because they associate being bi with being gay and feel that being gay is rejected by society. All men are sexual beings, but there are gradations of preference, without doubt.
The position you take, btw, is CLASSICALLY bisexual. I'll bet you don't think of yourself that way, but I'll bet you have some sexual reaction to males -- and just assume that all men do.
Have fun, and if you are bisexual you are lucky -- you get double the dating chances many of us do.
Regards,
Reyn

I think you have a point. The human libido is asexual. No one wants to deal with this because it would mean that everyone has a mental problem instead of a life style. It also blows a big hole in the claim for "special" rights.
I don't think many will go for this as it tends to make a case for sex being the primary human perversion, regardless of orientation. So you wind up supporting the Puritans on one hand and taking away everyones excuse for being "special" on the other. Not even conservative closet perverts want to put that in their party platform.
"Now isn't that special?"

Nice idea! As labels Hetero- Homo- and Bi-sexuality only serve as reference points along a range of orientations. I'm not sure I agree though that we are all simply sexual. sorry.

ya you cant help what you are attracted to
unless there are other factors involved(bribery, drugs/alchol,intimidation)
but the term sexual orientation isnt a label because its more of a defining term that you cant change
if somebody is considerd a prep
they could easily change their style and become a punk or goth or w/e
but you cant change your sexual orientation

I understand what you say and agree, but "sexual orientation" has to be addressed, simply because society requires labels. While in a perfect world it would be your way, its far from a perfect world.

I definitely believe that sooner or later, we know what our sexual orientation is. It is a very real part of who we are. It is a very real part of our identity as a human being.

I tried looking it up in the dictionary,
what is orientation??
The dictionary says..the place in which you find yourself...
where you are placed..lined up with the compass.
I don't understand the question. Seriously........
Does that mean it's where we are placed,
or where we put ourselves?? Help!!
