I have none of WWII except for the countless POW summaries of the POW's of Germany and the Japanese. Those under the Japanese suffered terribly...horribly. Those were the first hand reports I encountered as a medical transcriptionist with the VA and they have never left me. I used to sit, type and have tears rolling down my face the whole time I was doing those reports. The rest were the documentaries and I watch all of them. There truly were America's greatest heroes. The came home and never complained. Lest we never forget. I certainly won't.
In doing family geneology I found one Japanese POW, one each in Korea and Germany, one great uncle in the Spanish American war who survived but by WWI he died later at 40 in the Spanish Flu epidemic, one WWII paratrooper who suffered from malaria and depression from the battle of Anzio in Italy and jumped in the canal one freezing March night after a going to a boxing match. Those are my memories of what can only be called Hell.

Born in 1940 in Glasgow, I have no conscious memories of war time.

But the sound of an air raid siren, like in an old movie, still sends shivers down my spine.
