I don't know the laws in CA, but in SC if the home was used for the marital home then she is entitled to half of the equity.

Best ask your attorney this question. In my state (Utah) i owned the house prior to marriage, and wife never contributed anything to paying for the house, she would not be entitled to a penny.
But if she's brought income to the house, regardless of how much, she is more than likely entitled to half the equity in the home in the state of California.

Definitely half. Unless you can really have a good lawyer and prove that she was really really really bad with some evidence of planning to just get divorced to primarily get your home and assets and not because you guys can't work things out.
Sometime we say this is unfair. The reason why this is considered sometimes fair is that , when you settle down with a person your status may get elevated and when you're used to living like that, geting back to where you were and taking care of your children might be difficult.
For e.g if you're a prince and your wife lived with you for 10 years. And she had nothing when she married you, is it fair that she doesn't get anything? Lets say she quit her job, and career and everything else when she married you. Put yourself in her shoes. Would you like be on the street after you lived a live like that. Possibly, you are now so used to that lifestyle, you probably even lost touch of your original life and ways to succeed in it.
But some women, take advantage of this and marry just for money. Exceptions are everywhere. There is good and bad to everything.

Equity during the time of marriage. The amount of principle you paid doesn't matter, it's the equity you had before you got married that is yours.
The equity accrued during the marriage would be split in most cases.
You really need a good lawyer

It seems unfair that she would be entitled to anything if it wasn't under her name. But sorry, I'm not a liar... I mean lawyer. Best of luck to you dear.
