The beginning of wisdom is the recognition of your own ignorance. To think you are right is to think you have the correct answer in a given situation, which nobody can, because none of us are all-knowing. Only an all-knowing being can determine which of a million facts in any situation is "right". The more right you believe you are, the more you blind yourself to reality.

Yes, I believe that people who stubbornly believe they are right will refuse to listen to anything but what they "want" to hear. Isn't that what got this sitting President into the war with Iraq? He surrounded himself with people who agreed with him, and dismissed those that did not.

I believe that is the reason behind the dissent in America and the Bush bashing. The name calling and false accusations is believed by many on the left without knowing the meaning of words like "neocons" and comparing the right to Nazis, and the left to baby killers. Yes I believe it and it works both ways.
