my bamboo plant [4 month's old] in a small container is showing yellow leaves and black spots on the stem?

Question

the stem is hollow.i washed the roots with cold water and also with saline to wash the debris.shall i cut the damaged portion with a knife and plant it in the container. i need advice in this regard.
