i'm not saying my dad's tight or anything but he once dropped five pence and it hit him on the back of the head as he bent down to pick it up etc etc

A man that used to come into a restraunt i worked in years ago would ask how much each item was with and without tax. If he wanted a meal he would ask how much a order of carrots was, then say " i don't want carrots, will you take 70 cents off the bill? and how much will it cost with tax.?" He would do that with each item on the plate. And yes, he had money. Another person i work with currently comes into work early to read the paper (that's on sale at the front desk), and then put it back for some one to buy. Some days he will spend the majority of the day looking for yesterdays paper to take home. The paper is only a dollar.

My Mum - it's not that she's tight with other people - but give her some money and if she's not changed her purse recently - she could tell you to the penny what she spent the money on - keeps a record of it.

this person had some errands I had to look after when he was going on a month's vacation. Gave me some $ to take care of outgoing mail. When I returned the change (a few $ and cents) he counted to the last 5 cents to check he was not short- changed. And for looking after his interests, he "rewarded" me with stuff he collected from the aircraft he flew back on.

My uncle used to re-use t bags over and over again and waited for his kids to go to bed so he wouldn't have to share any biscuits, on the bright side he's rather ill these days.
