didn't sign up for the yahoo service but, the way I understood it was if your a member you get unlimited downloads. Otherwise you have to pay 99 cents per song. That;s what it says in the add anyway. "Get unlimited downloads for $5.95 a month.

Maybe you have some different music plan besides yahoo though that costs 6 hours plus the 99 cent fee.

Because the service you are using has decided that's what it takes to operate today and into the future, and to make a profit. Part of the 99 cent pricing has to do with market demands and music industry demands.
