I am 16 and need a better way to keep track of what I spend moneywise (and my parents are willing to back me up). I have thought of maybe a credit card, debit card, or checkbook. I am using cash right now and I do not really spend that much because I like to have a certain amount of money with me for a sense of security. I would like to know a better and easier way to keep track of what I spend and the pros and cons of each way.

Someone please help!

I use a debit card, I carry very little cash. Whether it be a candy bar or new outfit it goes on my debit card. I go on line to check my balance and my charges. Let the bank do the bookwork.

make a spread sheet and update it each day. It will take you about a few minutes, but you will be able to see clearly what you ahve spent. Dont get a credit card, who will pay it??? they have high interesta rates. Debit card is easier to spend cash on ebcause it doesnt feel like you are spending. When you look at your account you say to yourself. ahhhh how did i spend this much!!!! keep wit hthe cash and a spreadsheet for the age you are at for now.

Try not to mix your business and personal accounts, if your business gets audited, or you do it could be very bad. Keep track of all personal and household expenses together (anything that the household should pay gas, food etc) and all of the business expenses, and if one got paid from the wrong account put the money back into the right account so the expense gets deducted from the right account.

USE CREDIT CARD AND PAY OFF AT THE END OF THE MONTH....this way you get 1-3% cash back!!! and CC company gives a record of your spending...
KEY IS never keep any balance on credit card ( ie. pay each and every month).
