Christmas was never done November 15, the 25th of December for Western Churches, 07 January in the Orthodox churches, way back around 300 A.D.
Saint Nicholas was the original Father Christmas, AKA Santa, from way back then. Different garb, but that isn't the point, it is the spirit of the thing that matters.
So no thumb up for you!

the Christmas man and Saint Nicolaas
Santa Claus comes from Laplander tradition,
they used to follow the raindeer ,that ate the Amanita Muscara (mushroom of death),and caught the golden urine into a bowel ,
this they drank and they got very high
the drug at first gives the sensation of evaporation of the body leaving the head to the last .and people thought that they could fly ,and many ended up in the chimney trying to get to the roof.
this is why Santa comes down the chiney and has flying raindeer .
the drug cult was turned into folklore and adopted by the Christians ,to entice the pagans into Christianity.
All Christian Holidays ,originally were Pagan,
like the first of May(Easter) Halloween and Thanks giving ,as well as Christmas.
Saint Nicolaas was a Spanish Bishop who comes on the 5th of December, whose story was based on a Turkish bishop who was kind to the poor ,this was such a rare thing ,that he was rembered for ever.
he had two black slaves ,who gave sweets to the good kids ,and beat the bad ones with twiggs,And he sat on a White Spanish Horse
.
He had Nothing to do with Santa Claus as some People suggest.
Saint Nicolaas would not dream of coming down the chiney and he wore a miter and a long robe ,Santa claus was wearing Artic clothes and comes on the 24th of december, they are coincidentally both red .

Santa Claus, St. Nicholas, Father Christmas, Kris Kringle, or simply Santa, is a nonexistent allegorical, fictional, or symbolic gift-giving person, based on the historical Saint Nicholas, who distributes presents to sleeping children and adults who have been "good" all year and coal to those who have been "bad" all year; traditionally during the night of December 24, Christmas Eve. Santa Claus is an eminent character in the hearts and minds of millions of children and adults around the world who believe in him. The popular American form Santa Claus originated as a mispronunciation of Dutch Sinterklaas, which is a contracted form of Sint Nicolaas (Saint Nicholas).
Father Christmas is a well-loved figure in many countries and predates the Santa Claus character. Father Christmas is similar in many ways, though the two have quite different origins. Using 'Santa' in places that predominantly call him Father Christmas may be viewed as an Americanism, although they are generally nowadays regarded as the same character. Santa Claus is inexorably tied to Christmas in American culture, but in some cultures, he is not associated with Christmas at all, arriving on a different day (for instance December 6th, St. Nicholas' day) while baby Jesus brings presents on Christmas eve.

I don't understand why people still don't understand that it's spelled Santa C-l-a-u-s, not "Clause". He is based on St. Nicholas, who was reportedly very generous. He has been, as you say, widely exploited commercially. Today, I saw an old TV ad from the 50's. "Ask Santa to bring you a Lionel train for Christmas." Ridiculous.

If you have TIVO search for "The history of Christmas" on the Discovery Channel. Christmas has nothing to do with God or Church.

Santa has been around for a long time and it seems like people want him around so just enjoy.
What does Christ have to do with Christmass now? not much at all.
