Actually when most people immigrated to the U.S. from countries where English was not their native language, they lived in areas with people of the same ethnicity; the Polish, Italians, Dutch & Germans. I'm sure if you moved to a non-English speaking nation you would want to live near/with people who spoke English. I know I would. It is difficult for
older people to learn a new language mostly because they lose the ability to retain info. People's memories just aren't what they used to be beginning with their 50's. Heck, I tried learning Spanish when I was 19 & I just didn't have an ear for a foreign language.

However, the 2nd generation will be assimilated into America because they will be going to school here & will be around English elsewhere.

What I disagree with is having everything in Spanish. It was never done for any other ethnic group & I really don't see why it should be done for the Spanish.

they'll, even nonetheless, the host usa does not make it common so background shows. enable's see. If Mexicans start to pass into an area of Caucasians, is it regularly occurring that they commence shifting out? Mexicans are doing their paying for in ok-Mart, they'll do their paying for someplace else. additionally, it style of looks like that maximum Caucasians are not very lots in to intermarrying different ethnicities. on the different hand, Mexicans are no longer discovering English and are not very attracted to adopting the american way of existence in maximum situations. i'm undecided in the event that they'll assimilate, yet they are loosing their Mexican identity even nonetheless no longer unavoidably being assimilated by employing the Caucasians.

Exactly what percentage of legal Mexican Americans do you think are "unwilling to assimilate?" No more, I wager, PER CAPITA, than other immigrants. Obviously, there are many more immigrants from Mexico than from any other nation. Most of these ARE willing to assimilate. You are simply wrong!

By the way, how does speaking Spanish indicate lack of assimilation? Are all the Polish Americans who speak Polish (and YES, MANY IF NOT MOST of them DO) "unwilling to assimilate?"

I had a feeling you were a pathetic bigot, and I was right.
If you weren't you would not have asked,
"What's wrong with slavery? I think it's great!?
Why don't we repeal the thirteenth ammendment???

...no offense uncle tom."

They are proud of their heritage, there is nothing wrong with that. Unless you are native American I would wager that your anscetors did the exact same thing. That's part of what makes the USA so great multiculturalism.

History will provide you with many answers. All immigrant populations had hard times when they first came here. People had fear of the Irish, the Italians, the Chinese, the Japanese, all of whom have contributed significantly to the foundation of our democracy. The real problem is that people have forgotten those words written on the Statue of Liberty.

They don't want anything to do with our culture, it's our money and benefits they are interested in. They come here, have their children and demand that we teach them in Spanish in our Americans schools. Also, go to any American hospital and the emergency room is full of illegal aliens demanding and receiving free American health care. All this, and very few pay any taxes and they send their money back to their families south of the boarder. Screw Americans is their motto as long as they can continue to get most things for free.

Because their president (Vincente Fox) and many U.S lawyers tell them they don't have to assimilate.

Now I'm pretty g.d. sick of those who always bring up this past immigrant b.s. Try being treated like my Irish Great Grandparents or many other ethnicities as far back as the 1600's. I'd say the far removed Mayans, Incas and Aztecs got a pretty sweet deal and need to shut their collective pie holes!

Because they have a plan..........This is the easyest take over of a country in history. These people arent looking for a job. they know power is in numbers. Weve already invented every thing they need. Now Its time to come over here and let the U.S. train them to operate everything. Why should they change their language? This thing goes much deeper than some people looking for work.

It's not just Mexicans. Many people retain their original culture and language in the U.S. because it's way better than trying to be something you're not. And frankly, the American culture isn't all it's cracked up to be.

What is "American culture" exactly? American culture is made up of the cultures of many different countries. I personally embrace the use of other languages in our country. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, in my opinion.
