This movie was black and white made in 1930s-40s. About a lil girl who in hardship living in a drafted old room(attic). No mother, father may have gone to war or she was an orphan, but don't remember all the details. Well she befriends a old man (possible artist). It was dead of winter and freezing, the lil girl got sick and she said that she would pass away when the very last leave fell off the tree outside her window. In the night the old artist friend went out and hand painted leave(s) on the tree/side of building(?) so she would live, but he died himself of exposure. Anyone at all out there know the name of this wonderful, but very old movie? I would love to find it and see this movie again. It was a memorable movie from my childhood. I had thought it was called Autumn Leaves, but net turned up nothing. Thank you all in advance of giving this a think. If you dont know can you ask your parents or uncle/aunties/ neighbors or someone in their senior years? Thanks so very much.

hi, i have just had a look at my shirley collection i have about 9 of her movies....cant see any that resemble this story....you may want to look at other actors...sorry i couldnt help any further....

I think that may be "The little Princess"
Her dad puts her in a bording school because her mom had died. When her dad goes MIA the headmistress of the school puts her in the attic with another little girl, and they are force to do manual labor. I remember a Sikh man in the movie who lives with the neighbor as his butler, and they put warm blankets on the little girls on a freezing winter night.

it wasn't a Shirley Temple movie. it was an episode from the early twilight zone or the outer limits. first shown in the late 60's, the shows were all in black and white.

However it wasn't a little girl who was going to die, it was woman, played by Anne Baxter. It sounds to me like you are confusing Shirley Temple's Little Princess with this movie, as the beginning of your story sounds just like the Little Princess and the end sounds like the Last Leaf.

I do think of we considered everybody yet my well known on is Wee willy wiineke ane gazing with mom and father and my btotherws and Sisters is teh maximum suitable, i like then all thank you!
